Since 1990, Daniel Benjano has been among the early pioneers of the technological transformation of the diamond industry. At a time when many key processes were still performed manually, he introduced computerized systems designed to bring greater precision, consistency and automation to professional diamond work.
By combining imaging, optics, mechanics and software, Daniel helped break technological barriers and move the industry from manual processes toward intelligent, computer-controlled solutions.
Over the following 36 years, Daniel Benjano and OGI Systems continued this technology journey across nearly every stage of the diamond and gemstone process — from measurement, planning and analysis to cutting, marking, inscription, 3D scanning, detection, imaging and advanced AI-driven automation.

Early computerized optical proportion analyzer for polished diamonds, replacing manual measurement with faster and more consistent digital analysis.
One of OGI Systems’ early flagship technologies, OGICut introduced automated rough-diamond bruting with a preset diameter stop, replacing a traditionally operator-dependent process with greater precision, consistency and productivity. Designed to work together with OGI’s computerized centering technology, the system enabled a single operator to supervise multiple machines simultaneously — up to 24 units according to OGI historical records. During the 1990s, OGICut became an important part of OGI Systems’ expansion in India. According to OGI sales records and original customer invoices, OGICut systems were supplied to diamond manufacturers across the Indian market, contributing to the industry’s transition from traditional manual production toward computerized and automated manufacturing.

OGI introduced computerized automatic rough-diamond marking. After scanning and planning, the calculated cutting position was transferred automatically to the rough using a precision marking pen — replacing manual transfer and improving accuracy, consistency and productivity.
OGI expanded rough planning with dedicated planning and marking modules plus laser mapping of holes, grooves and concave areas. Special OGIRough systems were developed for exceptionally large rough diamonds, up to 1,000 carats according to OGI historical records.
Compact Desktop Diamond Laser Inscription System Small, easy to use, and requires minimal training. Inscribes numbers, logos, and brands on diamonds for authentication and anti-counterfeiting.
OGIMarker evolved from erasable pen marking to permanent precision laser marking, automatically transferring planned cutting lines from the 3D rough-diamond model directly onto the stone.
OGI introduced a portable rough-diamond planning system designed to bring computerized analysis directly to the field, helping buyers evaluate rough diamonds away from the factory environment.
OGITender advanced OGI’s portable rough-planning concept with a USB-based system operating on a laptop, enabling buyers to scan, analyze and plan rough diamonds directly during tenders and make more informed purchasing decisions.
OGITender evolved into the Scanox Tender family of portable high-resolution rough analyzers. The series expanded into multiple models for different stone sizes and tender requirements, including Scanox Zoom Tender i20, Tender i40, i100, i200, i300 and large-stone i500 configurations. The systems combine laser scanning, HD imaging, inclusion analysis, Multi-Cut planning and Best Value calculations to help maximize yield and profitability at rough-diamond tenders.
OGI Systems was among the early technology pioneers that helped move India’s diamond manufacturing industry from traditional manual processes toward computerized planning, precision measurement, laser processing, inclusion analysis and automation. By 2007, OGI had already been supplying advanced technology to the Indian diamond industry for approximately 15 years.
